The Principal Data Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of Hartford Healthcare's data infrastructure, supporting analytics, data science, and digital transformation. This role involves architecture development, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to data governance, privacy, and security standards. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Data Infrastructure Development:

Design and oversee scalable, secure data pipelines and drive initiatives like data lakehouse and data mesh architectures. Architecture & Innovation:

Lead enterprise data architecture design, implement new data management solutions, and experiment with emerging technologies. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work with data scientists, governance teams, and IT leadership to align data strategies with organizational goals. Data Governance & Security:

Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA, implement security measures, and maintain audit trails. Mentoring & Team Leadership:

Lead and mentor data engineering teams, promote best practices and continuous learning. Innovation & Experimentation:

Explore new data platforms and create technical roadmaps for future initiatives.

Qualifications Minimum: Bachelors degree in a related field; Masters preferred. 8+ years in data software development, cloud-native architectures (GCP preferred), and programming (Python, SQL, Java). Experience with data architecture (lake, lakehouse, data fabric, mesh), ETL, and data pipelines. Knowledge of healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7), and healthcare compliance (HIPAA). Proactive, self-motivated, with leadership and project management skills.
