System Administrator Internship
Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO Relocation Assistance: None available at this time Remote/Telework: NO - Not available for this position Clearance Type: DoD Secret Shift: Day shift Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time Description of Duties: The Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture (MDSEA) System Administrator Internship supports the Middle Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This is a 6-month long internship that consists of: Assist Windows and Linux System Administrators with daily management and sustainment in a fast-paced, dynamic mission environment. Use Active Directory and Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) to manage user accounts, set proper permission, and ensure end-user access Be adaptable in supporting senior System Administrators in Tier 2/3 troubleshooting efforts Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations Assist Senior System Administrators and Cyber Security Engineers with on-going vulnerability scanning and system patching, as necessary, to reduce cybersecurity risks Begin developing, auditing, and maintaining basic scripts for commonly repeated tasks Ensure a focus on creating, upgrading, and sustaining physical and virtual workstations and servers The successful candidate will: Be available to support a variety of IT tasks/roles, including but not limited to: system administration, cyber compliance, and documentation Be adaptable to new technologies, new situations, and short deadlines Have a strong commitment to a team environment and organizational improvement Have the ability to relay technical information between end-users, technical leads, and leadership both verbally and in writing Be dependable and punctual Be self-motivated Basic Requirements: Must have, or obtain within 90 days of start date, a DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (ex: CompTIA Security+ CE) Must have experience working with Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance This position is expected to pay $43,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position. This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days.
