Job Title: Principal Salesforce Engineer Location-Type:
Onsite (Houston, TX), 4 days onsite, Fridays remote Start Date Is: 8/4/2025 Duration: 6 month contract, potential to extend/convert Compensation Range: $70-$84/hr
Client is seeking a Principal Salesforce Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced Salesforce solutions. This role will architect systems from the ground up, deliver scalable Salesforce integrations, and mentor team members. The position requires deep technical expertise in Salesforce platforms, strong coding abilities, and experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Architect and build Salesforce.com solutions from concept to deployment
Design, develop, test, document, and deploy solutions on the Salesforce platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Force.com, AppExchange)
Develop and review Apex classes, triggers, Visualforce pages, Lightning Components, and SOQL queries
Lead and participate in design/coding sessions, resolving technical challenges
Integrate Salesforce with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware (MuleSoft, WebMethods, etc.)
Mentor and coach junior engineers and team members
Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding best practices
Must-Haves:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field (or HS Diploma 4 additional years of relevant experience)
10 years of overall software development experience, including Salesforce engineering
Expertise in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, Aura Framework, and SOQL
Hands-on experience with Salesforce development tools: Process Builder, Triggers, Flows, CSS, HTML, and Web Services
Strong integration experience using REST, SOAP, and middleware tools like MuleSoft
Experience with project/change management in software life cycles
Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work onsite Monday–Thursday (Houston, TX), 9–5pm CST
Soft Skills:
Leadership and mentorship mindset
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Adaptable and proactive in a fast-paced environment
Strong collaboration and consensus-building skills
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience with JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, React)
Salesforce Communities and Lightning App Builder development
Familiarity with Visual Studio Code, GitHub, Jira
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Web application development or imaging technology background
