Linux Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Linux Engineer to join our team in Corinth, Texas. This long-term contract position calls for a detail-oriented individual with deep expertise in managing Squid Proxy servers and authentication systems in secure Linux environments. The role involves deploying, configuring, and optimizing enterprise-level solutions to support network access control and web caching services. This will be a contract position that will be fully onsite. Responsibilities: Install, configure, and manage Squid Proxy servers on Linux systems to enhance traffic optimization, caching, and filtering capabilities. Deploy and maintain authentication servers such as FreeRADIUS to ensure secure and reliable access control within network environments. Integrate Squid and authentication systems with Active Directory or other identity management solutions. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning to ensure high availability and security. Establish access control policies, filtering rules, and authentication mechanisms to meet organizational requirements. Apply system updates, patches, and firewall configurations to maintain security standards. Analyze logs and performance metrics to identify and resolve system inefficiencies. Develop automation scripts or tools to simplify administrative tasks and reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network and security specialists, to align systems with business needs. Document system configurations, processes, and incident resolutions for future reference. Requirements: A minimum of 5 years' experience in Linux system administration (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, or similar). Proven ability to configure and manage Squid Proxy servers effectively. Hands-on experience with FreeRADIUS or similar authentication systems, including integration with other technologies. Familiarity with authentication protocols and identity management tools, such as Active Directory. Strong understanding of network protocols and firewall configurations. Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot system issues. Knowledge of security standards and practices in Linux environments.
