Senior Firmware Engineer - Hydrogen Fuel Injection Systems
On-site $140,000 - $210,000 + Equity (based on experience) Maritime | Engines | Embedded Controls | Fuel Injection Visa sponsorship and relocation are supported
A fast-growing climate-tech startup is developing a hardware plugin that injects hydrogen into shipping container ship engines, boosting energy efficiency by 30%. It's a major sustainability initiative with strong ROI and they're ready to hire now. What You'll Do Lead firmware and control systems development for hydrogen injection in combustion engines. Create real-time control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink and generate C code. Integrate and configure ECUs, sensors, and actuators. Debug communication via CAN J1939, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet. Calibrate ECU parameters in real-time with tools like ETAS INCA or CANape. Collaborate closely with combustion engineers for seamless hardware-software integration. Requirements 5+ years in control systems development. 3+ years working with engines, fuel injection systems, or turbine systems. Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering. Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Embedded Coder, ECUs, microcontrollers, and RTOS. Strong debugging, integration, and calibration skills. Preferred Experience with diesel engines (2- and 4-stroke). Background in maritime or automotive embedded systems. Knowledge of hydrogen fuel systems or hybrid technology.
