Description: We are seeking a Medical Director in Geriatric Medicine. This role is centered on the belief that it is better for the well-being of seniors with chronic care needs and their families to be served in the community whenever possible. The Medical Director provides general medical direction and supervision of participant care. This position is responsible for the delivery of participant care, clinical outcomes, and oversight of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program. The Medical Director develops and maintains medical policies, procedures, standards, and protocols. They provide direction and supervision to Primary Care Providers and Advanced Practice Providers. General responsibilities will include conducting history and physical assessments on new participants and event-based reassessments. They will develop medical treatment plans and provide medically necessary services in various locations. The Medical Director will interview and evaluate applicants to the organization and their caregivers, participating in the Intake and Assessment decision. They will discuss participants' medical conditions and prognosis to assist them in expressing their wishes and planning their future care. This role requires collaboration with the nursing treatment program of participants. The Medical Director will participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team, educating and advising on implications of diagnoses and treatment options. In addition, they will participate in team and family conferences, making decisions in cooperation with nursing staff. Education of participants and families regarding health maintenance and chronic medical conditions is also a key responsibility. The Medical Director will supervise the health care and treatment program developed by the interdisciplinary team. Physical examinations, appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests will be ordered and evaluated, ensuring systematic recording of results. Participation in provider on-call rotation is required.
