ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Photonics test engineer that can lead system bring-up, validation and DVT testing for the optics used in Celestial’s cutting-edge scale-up network product offerings. This is a cross-functional role, with strong collaboration with the ASIC, AMS, Firmware and Packaging teams to deliver state of the art test and characterization solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the Photonics test and characterization of high-speed optical networking products and sub-systems that are ushering in the next generation of AI XPU connectivity and are built on the most advanced PICs in the industry.
Work cross-functionally across the organization to demonstrate, validate and troubleshoot key building blocks of Celestial’s groundbreaking Photonic Fabric TM
technology and support new product introduction (NPI) from R&D through to manufacturing test. Collaborate with ASIC & AMS design and packaging teams to improve device performance and test coverage. Also contribute significantly to wafer-scale testing of Photonics library elements and sub-systems. QUALIFICATIONS Specialized skills
Strong experience designing and executing test plans for datacom optical transceivers, photonic integrated circuits (PICs) & optoelectronic subassemblies, with the ability to analyze and understand the resulting data. Strong experience performing high-speed (56Gbps+/lane) optical and electrical measurements including Bit Error Rate (BER) testing, eye-diagram analysis and link control loop testing. Strong familiarity with basics of optical characterization, including spectral testing and insertion & return loss measurements. Strong experience with data analysis tools (JMP, DataConductor or similar) Ability to automate test setups using standard scripting languages (Python preferred) and to integrate standard instruments (oscilloscopes, BERTs, AWGs, tunable lasers, optical spectrum analyzers etc). Familiarity with Analog and Photonics device and circuit design principles is a big plus.
Education requirements
Minimum MS in engineering or physics. PhD is preferred.

LOCATION
: Santa Clara, CA For California Location: As an early stage start up, we offer an extremely attractive total compensation package inclusive of competitive base salary, bonus and a generous grant of our valuable early-stage equity. The target base salary for this role is approximately $185,000.00 - $225,000.00. The base salary offered may be slightly higher or lower than the target base salary, based on the final scope as determined by the depth of the experience and skills demonstrated by candidate in the interviews.
