Stars and Stripes Stars and Stripes provides independent news and information to the U.S. military community, including active-duty service members, DoD civilians, contractors, and their families. Unique among DoD news outlets, Stars and Stripes operates under First Amendment privileges with Congressional oversight. We maintain news bureaus in Europe, the Pacific, and the Middle East, offering first-hand military and general news reporting. Our publications include daily and special editions, with an average daily readership of about 300,000. Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a Writer (Reporter/Photographer) NF-04 at Stars and Stripes. The Writer will be responsible for reporting, writing, and photographing stories for the newspaper and online publications. The role includes covering news and events, conducting interviews, verifying facts, and collaborating with editors and other team members. The role is based in Vicenza, Italy. Qualifications Reporting, News Writing, and Editing skills Photography and Photo Editing skills Strong research and interview skills Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with military news and the interests of the U.S. military community is a plus Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree in Journalism or a related field At least one year demonstrated experience in reporting and writing for a newspaper, journal, wire service, magazine, or online journalism.
