They are seeking a Client Software Engineer to develop engaging features for the game, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality solutions through close work with server engineers. Responsibilities: • Build engaging features on the Unity game client. • Debug sophisticated projects built on Unity. • Perform load and performance testing, participate in code reviews, write unit tests, and conduct troubleshooting to ensure uptime for live systems. • Work together with Game Designers to design and develop game features for Pokémon GO • Work closely with Pokémon GO server engineers to ensure solutions are high quality and scalable. • Ensure the Niantic engineering organization constantly improves its development best practices • Mentor junior client engineers on technical solutions. • Operate directly with studio engineering managers and partner platform teams. • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings. Qualifications: Required: • You have a BS in Computer Science or other technical major, or equivalent experience. • You have published at least one mobile app to the app store (iOS or Google). • You can work in multiple programming languages; C# for Unity, Java in Android, Obj-C in iOS, C/C++ mobile native. • 1+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent. • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice. • Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others. Preferred: • You have experience working with a ‘AAA’ game engines (Unreal, Unity, Lumberyard, Frostbite, etc.) or proprietary game engine. • You have work experience with Unity on mobile devices in Android and iOS. • You have 3D game engine experience, particularly in Unity3D. • Experience in optimization, systems architecture, profiling, tooling, and reporting. • You are experienced with profiling and optimization for mobile.
