As a Communications Dispatcher, the successful candidate must operate a multi-channel radio system receiving and transmitting all information promptly, accurately, and in a professional manner at all times. Duties include: Answering emergency and non-emergency calls on a multi-line telephone system Entering and retrieving information through a Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD) Responding to inquiries and securing emergency assistance in a timely, efficient, and professional manner Contacting and requesting services of wreckers, emergency medical, fire, law enforcement, maintenance, and University call-out services Operating a computerized information network terminal and entering/retrieving information via VCIN and NLETS Maintaining proper logs and files of messages and transmissions Essential functions include: Thinking and speaking clearly and concisely under stress Keeping abreast of current laws related to law enforcement at various levels Verifying and entering information accurately Knowledge of disaster protocols, law enforcement, fire, and medical dispatch protocols Operating radio, telephone, and CAD systems proficiently Keeping accurate records of all communications Qualifications: At least 21 years old Current First Aid and CPR certifications Industry knowledge in Emergency Communications Experience as a dispatcher preferred Ability to complete dispatcher certification within 1 year No felony or crimes of moral turpitude convictions; able to pass drug tests Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and judgment skills Excellent computer and organizational skills Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds Employment details: Seniority level: Entry level Employment type: Full-time Job function: Other Industry: Higher Education This job is active and accepting applications. #J-18808-Ljbffr
