Underwriting Team Leader - Inland Marine

Role Overview Reporting to the Construction Product Lead/Inland Marine Zone Lead South, this position leads a team of underwriters to underwrite profitable new and renewal business, meeting regional and/or global targets. Responsibilities include negotiating participation, pricing, and terms for large clients, owning key accounts, and developing relationships with brokers and clients. The role also involves team management, training, and development. Key Responsibilities Delegate tasks, manage team accounts, and act as escalation point. Manage budget and supervise underwriters. Underwrite large accounts, negotiate terms, and evaluate catastrophe risks. Manage international programs as relevant. Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, contract certainty, and utilization of pricing tools. Support regional underwriting strategies, manage referrals, and re-underwrite complex cases. Assist in acquiring new business and retaining existing clients, liaising with market management initiatives. Represent AzC externally, build relationships with brokers and stakeholders. Qualifications & Skills Minimum 5 years’ experience in inland marine underwriting, with knowledge of regional markets and legal frameworks. Proficiency in various inland marine products such as construction, transportation, and property coverages. Established broker relationships and experience leading teams in a global matrix organization. Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields and professional insurance qualifications preferred. Strong risk assessment, policy development, communication, and leadership skills. Familiarity with AI tools is a plus. Compensation & Benefits The annual base pay ranges from $90,475 to $140,900, with additional performance-based incentives.
