About the job Refractive Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join this team. The ideal candidate will preferably hold a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification, but at a minimum, must be proficient in refracting. This role is essential in providing high-quality eye care to patients and requires a commitment to excellence in clinical practice. This ophthalmology practice values its team and is committed to providing a supportive and rewarding work environment.

Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories and performing initial testing. Conduct refraction and assist in other diagnostic procedures as required. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols. Travel between our locations in Palm Harbor, Port Richey, and Zephyrhills as needed. Participate in a skills assessment as part of the hiring process. Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to ensure the best patient outcomes. Be available to work Saturdays from 9 AM to 2 PM as part of the regular schedule. Follow the scheduling provided two weeks in advance unless responding to last-minute changes. Compensation:

Hourly rates are contingent upon skill level and certification, ranging from $20 - $33 per hour Higher-level candidates may find additional opportunities for professional development if interested in expanding responsibilities within the practice. Requirements:

1-2 years of optometric or ophthalmic experience. Strong knowledge of preliminary testing, optics, and eye care. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Current and documented COA or COT certification preferred; minimum requirement is proficiency in refraction. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to travel between assigned locations. Flexible scheduling with the ability to work Saturdays.
