General Function
The Program Coordinator of Federal Work-Study (FWS will be responsible for the efficient delivery of all outreach, hiring, and marketing initiatives for the Federal Work-Study program on and off-campus by providing critical and direct oversight. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Independently manages the implementation, critical and direct oversight, and regulatory processes of the Federal Work-Study Program, and Alternative Loan Program.
2. Interpret, articulate, and disseminate financial aid policies, procedures and regulations to students, parents and the public. Additional duties include, determining eligibility, processing awards, and providing consultations and financial aid advising to applicants and prospective student groups in person, by telephone, or by email.
3. Maintain knowledge of federal verification requirements and tax return guidelines in order to accurately evaluate student awards, including helping students and parents resolve outstanding issues and obtaining required information and documentation.
4. Develops jobs on and off campus for work study students: ensures 7% of the Federal Work-Study yearly allocation is used to employ students in community service jobs and at least one FWS student is employed as a reading tutor or performing literacy activities in a family literacy project; initiates, processes and monitors employment contracts and earnings for off-campus agencies and on-campus positions; assesses student's needs. Maintain relationships with off-campus employers.
5. Provides advice and guidance in employment counseling; counsels students on alternatives to work study funding; matches employer/student needs with skills and abilities.
6. Reconciles monthly Federal Work- Study Program and the Alternative Loan Program to ensure institutional compliance and to demonstrate administrative capability as required by regulations. Reconcile Pell and Return to Title IV files to ensure institutional compliance and to demonstrate administrative capability as required by regulations.
7. Maintains accuracy of Federal Work-Study job descriptions; monitors monthly earnings of students and notifies supervisors of eligible hours available.
8. Supports the D'reg process by ensuring students are enrolled in courses in their program of study; sends emails daily to inform students who are enrolled in courses outside their program.
9. Certifies, awards, and reconciles alternative student loans. Maintain a list of preferred lenders on CPCC's website.
10. Send exit interview material to students who have taken out direct loans and are graduating at the end of each semester.
11. Maintains documentation on students to comply with audit requirements; develops and updates forms, manuals, packets, student and supervisor handbooks and newsletters.
12. Monitors program compliance and the applicable local, state and federal laws, policies and procedures and regulations to include conducting mandated on-site visits to work locations to ensure integrity of program.
13. Conducts informational and training sessions for supervisors and students.
14. Review documentation and report to the U.S. Department of Education, student's information for V4 and V5 verification of high school completion and identity statement of educational purpose.
15. Serves as an institutional program subject-matter expert for the Federal Work- Study Program, including all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations and administrative responsibilities.
16. Adhere to the highest professional and ethical standards to maintain data confidentiality and integrity.
