We are seeking a highly skilled

Mechanical Lead - Piping

professional with strong field experience to support the BIM/VDC department. This role bridges the gap between construction field operations and virtual design, ensuring that mechanical piping systems are modeled accurately and in full alignment with installation requirements, specifications, and contract documents. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on knowledge of mechanical piping installation methods and proactively contribute to model QA/QC, shop drawing reviews, and constructability coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the subject matter expert for field-based mechanical piping installation methods and best practices. Review and provide feedback on shop drawings and fabrication deliverables to ensure constructability and compliance with contract specifications. Assist the BIM/VDC team with model QA/QC by identifying installation conflicts, clearance/access issues, and inconsistencies with field practices. Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure coordination models reflect real-world installation conditions. Interpret mechanical specifications and contract documents to guide accurate modeling and detailing efforts. Attend coordination meetings, field walks, and BIM reviews to represent the installation perspective. Provide ongoing feedback to modelers and detailers regarding practical installation solutions and sequencing. Support clash detection processes and offer resolution strategies from a field perspective. Help ensure deliverables meet fabrication and installation milestones by aligning virtual construction with field execution schedules. Qualifications

8+ years of experience in mechanical piping installation in a field or superintendent role, fabrication and layout experience a plus. Experience collaborating with BIM/VDC teams or exposure to 3D modeling platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP). Strong understanding of mechanical specifications, contract documents, and piping standards. Ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and piping isometrics. Exceptional communication and coordination skills to bridge field and virtual workflows. Comfortable in construction site environments and office-based model review settings. Strong attention to detail and commitment to installation quality and accuracy. Experience with ACC, Bluebeam, or similar platforms preferred. This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. The employee must be capable of performing physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and lifting within OSHA ergonomic safety guidelines. Safe lifting techniques must be used to comply with all applicable workplace safety standards. Comply with all B&I safety procedures. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in mechanical coordination and preconstruction planning. Familiarity with prefabrication processes and modular piping systems. Certifications in pipefitting, plumbing, or relevant trades are a plus.
