The Manager of Special Programs (Compliance) is responsible for coordination and oversight of all individual educational plans for students in K-12. The manager will provide direct supervision, training and support to maintain and ensure compliant implementation of IEPs as well as ensuring the accuracy and compliance of special education student databases and paperwork to assist in completing required reports to ADE. The manager will ensure compliance with federal and state mandates, support the development of rigorous, inclusive instruction, and provide professional development and instructional coaching to staff. The role requires collaboration with teachers, school leaders, and the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) to meet the academic needs of diverse learners.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Plan, develop, organize, implement and evaluate special education services programming Collaborate with campus administrative teams to maintain smooth and effective Special Programs systems Develop a positive working relationship with teachers, school personnel, and district personnel Provide guidance and logistical support to new special education teachers to ensure district and school processes are understood, utilized, and developed to ensure effective student learning Attend IEP meetings as the LEA representative for high-profile cases and provide coverage for scheduling conflicts. Develop, schedule, and facilitate professional development sessions for staff, partners, and special education personnel Audit Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Multidisciplinary Evaluation Teams (METs) for compliance Guides special education leads, related service providers, and psychologists monthly to build knowledge to review METs and IEPs to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements Creates IEPs for Voucher students Support writing of IEPs when needed Collaborate with the Director of Special Programs in state wide audits Collaborate with school leadership in the hiring, evaluation, and professional growth of special programs personnel Conducts and completes classroom observations and evaluations of case managers Offer guidance and support to Teachers of Record (TORs) to ensure compliance and organization Audit teachers' quarterly progress reports for accuracy and alignment with student goals Conduct monthly compliance audits and eIEP Pro. Assist with administering standardized assessments locally and within the state of Arizona Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Programs. Properly document issues, concerns, and important information concerning students and their families in the Student Information System (SIS) Enforce school policies, rules, and procedures in the virtual classroom and at in-person school-related activities Maintain a professional code of conduct, including but not limited to professional language, actions, and attire Maintain professional confidentiality of personal and private matters pertaining to students, parents, and co-workers Acknowledge and accept direction from leadership Display the ability to rationally and objectively solve problems Demonstrate willingness and desire to work and collaborate with students, parents, co-workers, and the general public Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. Compose and comprehend written communication and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel, both individually and as a group. Meet and maintain the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned job functions in a safe and effective manner. Maintain positive and proactive customer service in all aspects of communication, both internally and externally Self-motivated with the ability to manage virtual workflows and collaborate in an online environment. Display excellent planning and organizational skills Work under pressure, pay attention to detail, meet deadlines, and deal with difficult situations while maintaining composure, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Demonstrate awareness and willingness to understand personal role and how it contributes to the success of other departments or functional areas Establish work priorities and work independently without supervision Embrace a culturally diverse environment Adapt to change while conveying professionalism Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred) Valid AZ special education certification/license Minimum of five (5) years previous teaching experience or similar experience Minimum of two (2) years of a leadership role preferred Experience working in a virtual or online K-12 learning environment is highly desirable Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Strong knowledge of IDEA, special education compliance, and IEP processes Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate effectively with district leadership, teachers, and parents to support the success of students with disabilities.
