As a Senior Software Engineer (Lead) for AI Agents, you will define the technical vision and lead the architectural evolution of platform infrastructure that enables AI agents to thrive at Apple scale. You will drive strategic platform decisions, mentor engineering teams, and influence technical direction across multiple organizations while building and optimizing the platform that supports our agentic ecosystem from data pipelines and compute orchestration to monitoring and reliability systems. Operating across multi-cloud and hybrid environments, you'll architect platform solutions that deliver flexibility, resilience, and cost optimization while meeting Apple's stringent security and privacy requirements. Collaborating with AI/ML teams, data scientists, and infrastructure organizations, you'll translate the unique requirements of agentic workloads into scalable platform capabilities that enable rapid innovation. You will lead cross-functional technical initiatives, establish platform engineering best practices, and drive the strategic roadmap for AI agent infrastructure at Apple. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience 7+ years of experience in software architecture design and development with expertise in Domain Driven Design, Service Oriented Architecture, and Distributed Systems 3+ years of experience in technical leadership roles focused on platform engineering or infrastructure Proficiency with containerized technologies (Docker) and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Terraform) Proven ability to design, operate, and maintain distributed systems (monitoring, observability, automation, etc.) Proven development skills building backend API services using Python (preferred) and/or JavaScript Practical experience with asynchronous programming, type safety, threading models, state machines and data structures Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with AI/ML technologies including LLMs, AI Agents (LangChain, Google ADK, etc.) Track record designing client-agnostic APIs using REST and/or GraphQL Understanding of OAuth 2.0 fundamentals (authentication, delegated authorization, etc) Experience with managed cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure Excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-technical audience Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
