is a not-for-profit community development organization and settlement house serving 20,000 residents a year through a comprehensive array of housing preservation, economic development, urban agriculture, public health, college success, community organizing, early childhood education and youth and family support services programs and projects. The HR Coordinator is the face of Human Resources at CHLDC, supporting the department and the organization. As the initial point of contact, the HR Coordinator makes the first impression and impacts the employee experience. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with an eye to detail and follow-through. They will love to learn and expand their knowledge base and apply what they know.
The position reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, while supporting the HR department.
Primary Duties: Communication: Handle direct communications with staff, providing a smooth personal handoff to the appropriate person if you cannot address their concerns promptly. Policies:
Responsible for maintaining the Employee Handbook and ensuring that policies are up to date, reflecting any regulatory changes that have occurred. Recommend changes to policies based on evolving organizational needs. Promote the handbook as the basis for the organizational culture at CHLDC, with an emphasis on an ethical approach to the work and each other. Whistleblower Reporting:
Monitor and coordinate responses to reports coming into the organization's ethics and whistleblower inbox, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality while bringing the concerns to the HR Manager and the CHRO. Operational Support:
Provide day-to-day operational support to the HR department; manage the time and attendance reporting ensuring accuracy for payroll close; collaborate effectively with the Payroll team to ensure that employee changes are processed timely and correctly. Identify bottlenecks and potential improvements to the payroll process, recommending solutions that work for both Payroll and HR. HRIS:
Ensure that the HR processes support accurate data input into our HRIS system; provide data reports as needed; develop standard reports to improve HR processes. Offboarding:
Manage the exit process for departing employees, including final paperwork, exit interviews, and ensuring that employee status is correct in the system. Other:
Perform various other duties as required related to HR operations, participate in preparing presentations and reports. Skills:
Being a "people person" - someone who enjoys dealing with all types of individuals and meeting them where they are. Understands and respects the requirement for confidentiality of all things HR. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Excellent time management skills; ability to independently plan and set priorities. Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data. Proven experience accessing various databases as needed. Exceptional oral and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with all levels of business partners; able to understand and make complicated material easily understood. Thrives in a team environment. Qualifications:
4-year degree from an accredited college or university preferred. In some cases, relevant experience will be considered. A minimum of 1-2 years related experience Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements related to Human Resources and employees. Ability to sit for long periods of time and lift up to 10 pounds. Compensation
$47,000 - 51,000 annually, dependent upon experience. We offer a full benefits package -medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D coverage, a FSA plan which includes (health, dependent and commuter), a 403B retirement savings plan and generous time off. Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 9:00am and 5:00 pm or equivalent.
