Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads - both students and employers - for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
The purpose of this position is to provide project management support needed to assist the Office of Apprenticeships and Employer Partnerships with delivering exceptional service to employer partners and candidates related to building capacity within the regional apprenticeship ecosystem. The person in the position will 1) assist with coordinating and tracking apprenticeship experiences, developing and implementing procedures to enhance operational efficiency, and maintaining accurate records of industry relationships and work-based learning opportunities; 2) guide candidates through the enrollment process, connect apprentices to college resources, document apprenticeship partnerships, course enrollments, and certificate and degree completions; 3) build on existing partnerships to maximize the use of resources and minimize the duplication of efforts ensuring the apprenticeship partners are served efficiently.
The Apprenticeship Project Manager will 1) provide technical and administrative support; 2) document standard office procedures related to the Office of Apprenticeships and Employer Partnerships for efficiency and sustainability; 3) maintain accurate and current record management for industry partnerships and apprenticeships, internships, and work-based learning opportunities; 4) assist industry partners with the onboarding and scheduling of apprenticeship enrollments; 5) track Special Arrangement Contracts or other agreements with industry partners to maintain accurate partnership records 6) support regional efforts to grow the apprenticeship model into new or in-demand industries and occupations.
The position responsibilities will require some travel around the Hampton Roads Region to support outreach and engagement events specifically geared toward apprenticeships at TCC.
This is a restricted grant-funded position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of PC-based software, including advanced features of word processing, presentation, spread sheet, database, and communication packages. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to design presentations and reports to various audiences. Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, anticipate and meet deadlines, and respond to changing priorities. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships while delivering effective customer service to internal and external partners and stakeholders. Ability to effectively manage projects from concept development through program implementation. Ability to gather data and evidence, draw sound conclusions, and report findings in tables, charts, and graphs. Demonstrated attention to detail. Proven ability to work as a collaborative team player. Strong time management and organizational skills. Experience with project management. Experience coordinating and planning meetings and events. Valid Driver's License required. Additional Considerations:
