We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer (Video) to join the Operating Systems team at Snap Inc! What you'll do: Lead or participate in the design, architecture and implementation of embedded software in both prototype and shipping consumer products Develop and optimize video pipelines for capture, playback, and streaming, utilizing multimedia frameworks such as Gstreamer Develop and integrate support for protected content playback using DRM technologies Participate in design reviews, code review with peers and stakeholders to create reliable solutions Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Familiarity with video compression standards (e.g., H.264, H.265/HEVC, AV1) Hands-on experience with multimedia frameworks like Gstreamer or similar Understanding of DRM and content protection technologies (e.g., Widevine or similar) Software Development skills including: Design, Documentation and Coding (C/C++) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and software debugging skills Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or electrical engineering or equivalent years of experience 3+ years of experience in embedded software development, with a focus on video or multimedia systems Proficiency programming in C/C++ Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in a relevant field such as computer science or electrical engineering Experience with hardware-accelerated video processing If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please provide us some information. Compensation: In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future. Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $157,000-$235,000 annually. Zone B: The base salary range for this position is $149,000-$223,000 annually. Zone C: The base salary range for this position is $133,000-$200,000 annually. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
