Tier 3 Systems Administrator
Peraton is seeking a Tier 3 Systems Administrator to support our federal client's workplace modernization efforts. In this critical role, you will contribute to the transformation of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) endpoint environment including Windows 10 and above, Office 365, and other areas as needed for workplace modernization. This team will be utilized to reduce repetitive tasks by Endpoint Technology and other USPS organizations including the service support areas and engineering. You'll play a hands-on role in distributing software updates and removing outdated software on endpoints. Expanded services will be provided to other organizations as required (ex: IP migration for printers, User migrations to new hardware, asset inventory database modification, support, and maintenance). Location: On-site in Raleigh, NC. Day to Day Work Responsibilities: Systems Modernization & Support
Support the deployment of enterprise endpoint solutions, ensuring system integrity and modernization. Assist with user migrations, hardware refreshes, printer IP migrations, and asset inventory updates. Maintain a virtual test environment to mirror production for validation and quality assurance. Operate personal computer terminals and LAN attached to workstations to perform job functions and general clerical/administrative work. Provide on-site system or application support for deployment/installation as required. Install PC-based hardware, software, and peripherals, as well as integrate products into desk-top systems.
Automation & Scripting
Utilize PowerShell and Tanium to automate endpoint management tasks. Develop, test, and deploy scripts to remove legacy software, install updates, and address technical issues across user devices. Track open tickets, documenting every stage, including conversations, GitHub script revisions, time logs, testing schedules, and Tanium target creation for script rollouts.
Troubleshooting & Deployment
Monitor trouble tickets in the support queue to address deployment/packaging/automation projects impact. Take corrective action to address issues. Participate in pilot programs and staged roll-outs to ensure script performance and reduce risk. Provide on-site support during system roll-outs, including installation, configuration, and user training.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with endpoint engineering, service support, and leadership teams to resolve technical issues and identify opportunities for automation. Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Follow USPS policies for change management, documentation, and system updates.
Professionalism & Documentation
Maintain effective communication with service request and various departments for accurate script development and deployment. Ensure accurate, detailed documentation for all support activities, change requests, and procedural updates. Support knowledge transfer by training users and team members on newly implemented tools and techniques. Stay abreast of the ever-changing software, hardware, and OS landscapes. This knowledge is crucial for troubleshooting, advising upper management, and shaping future network strategies. Produce reports for a wide variety of purposes. Engage in a collaborative team environment, contributing to brainstorming, problem-solving, and peer review to maintain high-quality work standards.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience or a Masters degree and 3 years of experience or a High School Diploma and 9 years of experience. Must be a U.S Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card)

Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, VBScript, or similar tools to support Microsoft Workplace Modernization initiatives. Demonstrate ability to independently install, test, and implement complex changes within distributed IT infrastructure. Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform capacity and performance assessments, and develop actionable recommendations. Experience developing and recommend innovative solutions to business problems of moderate complexity, including preparation of cost-benefit analyses. Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex hardware and software problems with distributed systems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Tanium and related endpoint management technologies. Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration, working with diverse teams to meet shared objectives. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Effective multitasking and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects. Deep knowledge of distributed system architectures, both hardware and software components. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-paced, mission-critical environments. Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
