Under the direction of the surgical charge nurse, performs less complicated surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. Supports surgical areas within UC San Diego Health by ordering, stocking, and verifying specialty equipment and supplies, tracking inventory (type, quantity, expiration dates), and communicating with surgeons, buyers, vendors, and staff regarding equipment needs, malfunctioning equipment, and service issues. Provides continuing education and in-service to staff. Manages hazardous materials, disposable and non-disposable equipment and instruments per protocols and regulations. Performs other related tasks as needed. Minimum Qualifications Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist training or equivalent. Current BART or BLS certification at the time of hire, with a commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire. Prior Surgical Technician experience. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various procedures. Effective communication skills, patient-focused attitude, and positive demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of Surgical Technician experience in vascular and endovascular surgeries. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of a Medical Assistant training program. Experience with Lean Six Sigma and/or project management. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).

Special Conditions

Employment contingent upon criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Ability to work various hours and locations based on needs. Availability to work overtime as required.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $69,447 - $86,381 (pro-rated if less than 100% appointment) Hourly Range: $33.26 - $41.37 Compensation factors include experience, skills, knowledge, education, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.
