The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care within residential group homes in Eugene/Springfield and will provide support to individuals with
intellectual/developmental
disabilities (I/DD).
This is a full time, permanent position. This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills.
Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes. What You’ll Do Provide client care in a float capacity for schedules, emergencies, or fill-in assignments at designated residential homes (schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance.) Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating. Prepare meals and snacks. Light household duties Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices. Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed. Other duties as assigned Qualifications
1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with
intellectual/developmental
disabilities is required. Must have valid driver's license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients Must be able to work flexible hours (Choice of either day/evening or evening/overnight shifts), including weekends Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral Have a passion to help others Works well independently Dependable and adaptable Excellent communication and decision-making skills Able to follow written and verbal instructions Must be able to provide references 18 years of age or older (required) Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training
