The DAR is seeking a highly organized museum professional to join the team as our new Museum Specialist for Visitor Experiences! The DAR Museum, located in the DAR's Washington, DC, headquarters, collects, preserves, and interprets objects used and created in American homes. Using the lens of the varied interpretations of home, we inspire conversations about the diverse American experience, encouraging people to discover common ground. The museum, which welcomes visitors throughout the year, organizes special exhibitions and educational programming for all ages and maintains a permanent collection of more than 20,000 objects reflecting the material culture and social history of the United States prior to 1840. This position is tasked with ensuring that our guests discover a positive experience during their visit to the DAR Museum and throughout our historic property. The individual in this role will be responsible for overseeing front-line visitor services staff, developing and leading tours and recurring in-gallery activities, and supporting special events and programs. They will also be responsible for all aspects of our member docent and corresponding docent program, which brings DAR Museum programming to their local communities. The successful candidate will have excellent people skills and will be able to communicate with individuals from all backgrounds. They will also be able to apply their knowledge of educational programming and visitor services to expand the public's awareness of our museum.

Job Requirements: Minimum 2 years' experience in museum education, volunteer management, or visitor services at a museum or similar cultural institution. Proven experience coordinating tours and other public engagement activities. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders. Familiarity with digital platforms and social media as it is applied to museum programming is required. Bachelors' degree in U.S. History, American Studies, Museum Education, or related field. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a commitment to excellent customer service. Demonstrated ability to leverage a museum's collection for educational programming. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative, and volunteer management software systems.
The DAR offers: Hiring annual salary ranges from $45,000 to $60,000, with the final determination based upon the candidate's overall experience Paid vacation and sick leave-12 days annually for each, along with 14 paid holidays Medical/Rx, dental, and vision benefits. HSA with employer contribution if enrolled in the HDHP option Employer-paid Life Insurance/AD&D and Long-Term Disability insurance. Voluntary Life and AD&D plans are also available Health and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts 403(b) retirement plan with a full-vested employer match up to 6% Free tickets to Constitution Hall events
