Position Summary: The Denzin lab in the Department of Cellular, Molecular and Genetic Medicine, VCU School of Medicine, has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to study novel regulators of the MHC class II antigen processing and presentation pathway. To study these, we utilize in vivo mouse genetics, confocal microscopy, viral-vector based manipulation of genes, cell cultures and state-of-the-art biochemical and molecular approaches. We offer an intellectual, collaborative, and multidisciplinary research environment to support career goals and provide access to modern facilities. Candidates with background knowledge and hands-on experience in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or other relevant fields. Applicants with strong immunological and cell biological knowledge and skills are particularly welcome. Core Responsibilities: Design and perform experiments. Analyze, interpret and discuss experimental data with PI and other members of the lab Generate figures and write first drafts of manuscripts Help train and mentor junior scientists in the lab Minimum Hiring Standards: Strong research background in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, and/or mouse models Evidence of successful completion of a research project (publications) Ability to work independently; interpret, present, and discuss experimental data Excellent communications skills This will be a minimum one-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at VCU Preferred Qualifications: PhD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) in biological sciences Preferred experience in immunology This is a restricted position with no set end date.
