Starting Pay: $29.71/hour (91% of scale) Schedule: MondayFriday, occasional Saturdays as needed Hours: Approximately 45 hours per week Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a rear-load garbage truck along designated routes Collect refuse and recyclables according to route sheets Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance Operate hydraulic controls to lift and dispose of waste Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 100 lbs Working Conditions
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Exposure to mechanical parts, moderate noise, and occasional fumes Frequent heavy lifting and adherence to strict safety protocols Minimum Requirements
Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement (Class A not required) Candidates must have a minimum of one year of experience in waste management, trucking, or heavy equipment operation, and must not have held more than three jobs in the past five years. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English High school diploma or equivalent preferred Basic knowledge of truck components for pre- and post-trip inspections Must be able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and drug screening, including testing for controlled substances This is a safety-sensitive position under Washington State law; pre-employment THC testing is permitted About Waste Connections
