Position Status: Full time Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift (United States of America) Hours per week: 36 Member of the care delivery team will function under the direction of and be assistive to, a Registered Nurse to provide delegated, direct patient care intervention, including the performance of non-sterile procedures. Responsible to provide a safe environment for his/her assigned patients; to complete the assigned work; to monitor the patient for changes in condition and to report those changes to the RN/LPN. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Education Qualifications: Must successfully complete Safety Monitor/Patient Sitter competency checklist within 90 days of hire. Must completed non-violent crisis prevention (Mandt) training with orientation and annually. Experience Qualifications: 1 year Customer service experience. Required Direct patient care experience. Preferred Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution. Formulates positive working relationships with all health care customers. Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information. Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support - BLS/RQI Required within 90 days of hire. What You Will Do: Obtains verbal report from patient's nurse to include information regarding identified care needs, diagnosis, communication barriers, and special considerations (NPO, bed alarms, suicide precautions, etc.) Obtains instruction from nurse regarding ambulation limitations and course of action for redirection of patient if needed. Positions self in patient room continuously observing patients behavior and activity Never leaves the patient alone or out of sight unless specifically instructed by the nurse. Provides patient comfort, safety and satisfaction. Assist with patient intake as directed by the nurse. Assists in ambulating and positioning patients as directed by the RN. Assists with lifting and movement of patients to chairs, gurneys, beds, etc, as directed by the nurse. Keeps work area clean and well organized. Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate staff in a timely manner. Accurately and legibly documents data regarding patient's activities and notifies nurse of events, i.e., behavioral changes, violent behavior, unsafe behaviors etc. Participates actively in clinical education activities for department and Division of Patient Care Services, including orientation of new employees. Completes mandatory in-services/competencies during specified times. Participates in development and attainment of department, Division of Patient Care Services and hospital goals. Accurately and legibly records data collected and notifies nurse of any condition and/or behavior changes. Assists in the orientation of department personnel.
