Receiving Inspector
Receiving Inspector Shift/Hours: 8am - 5pm Pay Rate: $18-20/hr DOE Location: Santa Fe, TX Experience: 2+ years experience Job Overview: As a Receiving Inspector, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of incoming materials and components, particularly valves and related parts. You'll meticulously inspect these items against quality standards, specifications, and purchasing requirements, ensuring everything received from suppliers is defect-free and compliant with established criteria. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining high product quality and operational efficiency. Job Responsibilities: Perform thorough inspections of all incoming valves, parts, and materials to verify they meet specifications, purchasing requirements, and internal quality standards. This includes conducting dimensional inspections using calibrated equipment for accuracy. Inspect valve nameplates to confirm they contain correct product information, including material specifications, size, pressure ratings, and any required industry standard markings. Conduct visual inspections of valves and components for surface defects like cracks or porosity. When necessary, perform liquid penetrant testing to identify subsurface imperfections and ensure quality. Accurately and completely fill out inspection forms, providing clear, precise information, including details of any defects and actions taken. Assist in segregating non-conforming materials and reporting issues to the QHSE Coordinator for evaluation, documentation as an NCR, and supplier notification. Verify the correct material grades and heat numbers are used and stamped on pressure components. Ensure all required material certificates (MTRs) have been received, reviewed, and match applicable specifications. Collaborate closely with warehouse, production, and quality control teams to ensure a smooth flow of materials. Perform additional tasks or duties as assigned by management, which may include supporting other roles within or outside the department. Qualifications and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree or technical certification in manufacturing, quality control, or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in a receiving or inspection role, ideally within a manufacturing or valve industry. Knowledge of MSS-SP-55 and other relevant industry standards and valve product specifications. Strong knowledge of measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, digital gauges, etc.). Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and material certificates. Basic computer skills, including MS Office and ERP systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with internal teams and management. Experience with non-destructive testing methods, such as liquid penetrant testing. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in various physical positions, including standing, bending, and crouching, during the inspection process. Ability to work in a warehouse or factory environment with exposure to various machinery and tools. Work Environment: This position operates in a manufacturing and warehouse setting with a moderate noise level.
