Patient Navigator
The Patient Navigator will serve as a liaison for the patient, provider, and Akumin. They will assist in scheduling exams, obtaining prior authorizations, burn CD's, print reports, help with obtaining prior patient records for imaging, follow up on outstanding reports, etc. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Ensures patient satisfaction by providing excellent service by ensuring ease of appointment scheduling. Works with case managers to ensure that reports are available and uploaded in time for patients follow up appointments. Works with case managers on addendums, and direct contact between provider and radiologist. Obtain preauthorization and/or predetermination for imaging procedures from insurance companies. Provides supporting documentation for all insurance appeals and denials. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent experience. CPR Certification. 1 year in medical/hospital setting Interpersonal Skills: Relationship building skills to work with all functional units of the organization effectively. Experience in working with demanding customers. Communications Skills: Effective communication skills; verbal, non-verbal and written Team/Independent Worker: Ability to work under pressure and while managing competing priorities. Past experience in meeting/exceeding Service Level Agreements (SLA) turnaround time for assigned tasks, follow ups, and issues resolution to closure. Ability to make disciplined and timely decisions within a timely fashion. Experience working in a collaborative team environment. Additional Qualifications & Experience: Diligent attention to detail is essential due to the work environment. Past experience in ensuring ethical practice and maintaining confidentiality. Good customer service skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize. Physical Requirements: Standard Office Environment More than 50% of the time: Sit, stand, walk. Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs. See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients. Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel or crawl. Climb and balance.
