Riggers Needed At BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair Division
BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair Division is seeking to hire Riggers from entry level to extensive experience. The Rigging Shop Mechanic performs a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, electronic equipment, testing, steel/pipe work, general dock, rudders, shafting, wheel work, anchor chain and flight deck safety net related work. Load and pull testing of various pieces of equipment can also be expected of this position. The Mechanic operates equipment for assembly and installation; conducts pre-operational inspections of equipment and record findings to management, records work performed and follows specified safety policies and procedures. Must be able to perform and communicate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), demonstrate deck plate leadership skills and abilities to subordinate mechanics with minimal oversight. The selected candidate should note that these positions are available at the advanced level, experience level will be determined upon initial review and interview when being given further consideration. The Rigging Mechanic must demonstrate experienced knowledge of the skills and abilities required to perform tasks in these and related areas of responsibility. Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification Systems "DBIDS" access card. Advanced knowledge means that the mechanic understands how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them with minimal assistance. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks. In some cases, as specified, Mechanic is expected to assist, rather than completing the task independently. Based on skill level the mechanic must demonstrate a basic to advanced understanding of vessel compartments, number systems and related vessel terminology for multiple ship platforms naval and commercial. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of job planning and executing, proper gear selection, leading helpers and handypersons with normal supervision. Education Minimum: High school Diploma/GED Minimum Relevant Experience: Experienced Level Preferred Relevant Experience: Advanced experience 2 years plus or more of Rigging Mechanic experience. Ship Repair or Heavy Industry experience in Rigging.
