The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students, and colleagues. What you will do in this role: Conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient's speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation. Administer objective tests to assess patient's communication assets and liabilities. Structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities. Evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress. Document progress in patient's chart. Complete notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication. Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients. What qualifications you will need: Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Must be a licensed Speech Pathologist in the state of Texas. Masters Degree from an accredited SLP program. A minimum of 1 year experience (post CFY) required, working with adults (no new grads). Must be able to work 2 weekend shifts a month and the flexibility to also pick up during the week. HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast is a full-service 340+ bed acute care hospital in Pasadena, Texas.
