Bartender Position

The Bartender is responsible for serving a wide variety of wine, beer, and mixed beverages while providing gracious, warm and attentive service to guests. Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities:

Prepares alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons, taking beverage orders from both guests and servers. Interacts with guests, takes orders and serves snacks, food and drinks. Assesses guests' needs and preferences and makes recommendations. Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the established standard drink recipes. Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages. Records drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system. Accepts guest payment, processes credit card charges and makes change when applicable. Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages. Maintains cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas. Receives and serves food orders to guests seated at the bar. Reports all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to restaurant manager. Assists the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies. Adheres to alcoholic beverage control policies and regulations. Maintains a valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit and stores it on person, in purse or in locker when working. Requirements:

Minimum of one year of bartending experience, preferably at a hotel or resort. High school diploma (or equivalent). Valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit is required before hire. Strong knowledge of beer and wine, both local and imported, and of mixing, garnishing and serving drinks. Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register or POS system. Punctuality and reliability are critical. Outgoing personality, positive attitude and strong communication skills. Ability to work proactively to ensure the best possible guest experience. Ability to work evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays required. Ability to work effectively in an environment where the pace may vary. Ability to stand for eight or more hours per day, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 40 pounds. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
