Job Summary of the Qc Histology Technician The Quality Control (Qc) Histology Laboratory Technician will support Qc Histological testing by conducting a variety of laboratory tasks. He/she will also be responsible for routine laboratory operations including maintenance, solution and media preparation, routine testing, ordering supplies, and laboratory housekeeping. The Qc Histology Technician will be required to handle biohazardous materials. The successful candidate will carry out testing and evaluations according to established procedures, document results, and detail any testing observations. He/she may be responsible for incoming materials release, in process testing, and release testing. He/she will also contribute to writing reports and documenting laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs). The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and managing inventory of lab equipment other related duties as assigned. Requirements of the Qc Histology Technician Associate degree in chemistry, biology, or a science/technical related field required (Bachelor's degree preferred) Prior experience working in a biology, microbiology, clinical, or chemistry laboratory preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Prior experience working with animal and human tissue and handling biohazardous materials preferred Competency in aseptic techniques and working under a laminar flow hood/biosafety cabinet preferred Experience working in an FDA or AATB regulated industry, medical or biotech experience preferred Responsibilities of the Qc Histology Technician The specific duties of the Qc Histology Technician include but are not limited to: Conducting the laboratory's daily operations, with primary focus on the Histology analysis. Performing tasks accurately and according to procedures. Operating histology equipment including but not limited to tissue processing, slide staining, slide scanning, and image analysis. Performing laboratory equipment preventative maintenance, calibrations, and validations according to appropriate local, state, and federal regulations. Preparing solutions and reagents following standard formulations and procedures. Cleaning and sterilizing instruments, glassware, and equipment; restocking supplies and materials. Monitoring inventory levels, ordering materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring orders are fulfilled upon receipt. Following laboratory policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and appropriate state and federal regulations. Complying with all company policies, procedures, and SOPs. Setting up equipment and materials to perform scheduled analyses. Performing all other duties as directed by Supervisor, including cross-training for non-histology related laboratory methods.
