Overview
A wonderful and kind family on the Upper East Side of New York is seeking a full-time nanny/mother's helper to care for their home and their children, a girl aged 19 months, and a 5-year-old boy. Childcare and household duties will be split approximately 50/50. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday from 12pm to 8pm with some flexibility. The ideal candidate will be a great partner to the family, co-nanny, and will be happy to pitch-in where needed. This is a live-out position, and only local candidates will be considered. Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to: All aspects of general housekeeping, cleaning, and organizing the home, including closets and pantry, dusting, mopping, laundry, ironing, and dishes Changing of linens and making beds Maintaining organizational systems currently in place and improving systems Meal planning and prep for the whole family and snacks for the children General full-charge care of the children Always maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the children Tidying up throughout the day Coordinating/scheduling after-school activities Picking up 5-year-old from school, taking him to afternoon activities, the playground, and play-dates. The current school is within walking distance from the family home. However, the new school will be a public transit bus ride away next year. Giving both children dinner (sometimes prepped by the other nanny), bathing and bedtime for both children. Co-nanny leaves at 5:30pm. Set thoughtful boundaries for the children and provide structure while effortlessly putting them at ease Encourage imagination and creativity Provide a nurturing environment Engage in developmental activities Ad hoc projects or errands for household and children Qualifications
Detail oriented, organized, and efficient Proactive and ability to prioritize Even-keeled, calm, and thoughtful Team-player and ability to work autonomously Flexible can-do attitude Ability to follow recipes and work around food allergies Loves to cook Warm, loving, and playful Reliable, trustworthy, and true passion for children and their development Excellent time management and interpersonal skills Work intuitively and have common sense Safety oriented and mindful Requirements
Previous experience in a similar role Ability to commute or stay overnight in Bellport, NY, where the family rents a summer home for 3 to 4 weeks Ability to travel domestically or stay overnight would be a plus, but is not required Legal to work in the U.S. Salary and Benefits
The family is offering $33 to $37 per hour, depending on experience and flexibility to work additional hours or stay overnight, PTO, unlimited metro card, $100 medical reimbursement, and 9 paid holidays
