Senior Strategic Communication Specialist
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff; Director of Communications & Public Relations, the Senior Strategic Communications Specialist must be an excellent writer, possess good organization skills, and able to apply their skills across a broad range of communications outlets. This position is a major contributor of content for college materials and plays a vital role in editorial review. Such materials include, but are not limited to, newsletters, website content, news releases, the college's magazine, social media and brochures. The Senior Strategic Communications Specialist is a member of the Communications and Marketing Team and provides proofreading and editing support for all forms of communication, ensures compliance with the university's editorial style guidelines, and assists the Chief of Staff; Director of Communications & Public Relations with communications and marketing strategies. The Senior Strategic Communications Specialist is a strategic partner to the Chief of Staff; Director of Communications & Public Relations. The Senior Strategic Communications Specialist develops, plans and is responsible for various communication projects and contributes to operationalizing all aspects of communication and serves as a proxy for the Director of Communications and Public Relations. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Responsibilities: Writes and edits alumni, student, faculty, staff, and general college news feature articles for the website and newsletters Creates and updates content for brochures and assorted print pieces for the college Contributes content for the website, marketing emails (internal & external), viewbooks/brochures, and alumni communication Manages content for the college's weekly and monthly newsletters and develops content for college email invitations for college events Assists with photo and video capture; ensures that all content aligns with the university's editorial style guideline and visual identity Supports Social Media specialist with editing, creating content, and social media monitoring and serves as the approver for social media content Collaborates with the Social Media Specialist to develop social media strategies for editorial features Writes and edits faculty bios for online directory Provides the first draft of dean's remarks and presentations Assists with other executive communications as needed Strategic communications planning and leadership: With support from the Director of Communications and Public Relations, the Senior Communications Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of the departments strategic communication plan Track key marketing performance indicators to provide insight and advise the strategic communications direction of the College Utilize data insights from digital newsletters and the website to determine modifications and effective strategies for the department Provide content and editorial leadership to the department as a whole and the College Serve as proxy for the Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Crisis Response Team and other opportunities as needed Manages the Colleges editorial calendar Other duties as assigned Desired Qualification: Knowledge of AP style is a must. The candidate must be able to confidently work with faculty, administration, alumni, students, and staff. Basic photography and video skills with the ability to use Adobe Creative Suite and Salesforce, is beneficial to be successful in the position.
