Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Infant Aide. In this role, the successful candidate will assist Head Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons; work with a team to provide a stimulating environment and activities; encourage parent involvement; set individual goals and record anecdotal observations for each child; keep room clean; help with toileting; other various classroom duties. Job Responsibilities: Is willing to help others and steps outside normal job perimeters when necessary Follows the diaper changing/potty procedures for children accordingly and as needed Follows the When to Wash Hand policies as posted in the classroom Follows the hand washing procedures accordingly Inspects outdoor and indoor play areas prior to play Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival Arrives on time Puts infants to sleep according to their individual schedules and takes care of infants upon awakening; every effort to prevent SIDS is made Feeds children according to their individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines Inspects fire exits and extinguishers regularly Files incident or accident reports accordingly and as needed Notifies parents and director when children are sick or get hurt Uses bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces as required Uses the Germ Box effectively Looks for ways to improve the program Comes to work with a positive attitude Flexible with assignments and schedule Opens to new ideas Follows center's philosophy and policies Alert in health and safety matters Good grooming and appropriate attire Responsible in job duties Reliable in attendance Supervises children closely and effectively throughout the day Gives ample notice for absences Always attends to children's needs before everything else Attends and actively participates in staff meetings Careful to keep information about children and families confidential Ensures all required paperwork is done and/or due on time Quickly and effectively deals with unexpected situations and problems Remains calm in a tense situation Has a clear and fair discipline procedure Reinforces positive behavior Avoids stereotyping and labeling Ability to work with children who are acting out Promotes self-esteem in communications Encourages independence/self-help Is aware of developmental levels/changes Knows and shows respect for individuals Uses a modulated, appropriate voice Available and approachable with parents Listens and responds well to parents Greets parents and children in a positive manner as they enter the classroom Does not speak about the child in front of him/her Ability to make appropriate written documentation and referrals when needed Helps develop language by responding to sounds infants make or words children say, sings, talks throughout the day and interacts verbally during routines such as diaper changing, hand washing, etc. Ability to set appropriate limits Turns in lesson plans and children's observations in a timely fashion Creates an inviting learning environment Holds parents conferences on schedule Takes an active role in encouraging parent participation Makes every effort toward positive parent relationships Maintains confidentiality Is tactful with negative information Listens and responds well to parents Anticipates problems and redirects Provides an appropriate role model Provides plenty of child-directed activities throughout the day Provides suitable materials for all activities Develops plans based on goals from observations/curriculum Provides developmentally appropriate activities Plans are carried out in the classroom Lessons plans support all areas of development and reflect children's interests Approaches criticism with a learning attitude Communicates directly, avoids gossip Offers shares ideas and materials Strives to assume a fair share of work Is friendly and respectful with others Handles transitions well Follows the daily schedule and provides outdoor playtime for children twice a day when weather permitting Is prepared for day's activities Is flexible responsive to child interests Readily accepts and responds to supervisory inputs accordingly Ability to implement suggestions Stays open to constructive criticism and suggestions Communicates directly with supervisor Seeks and asks for help if needed Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a CDA Certification or higher. Warm, caring, and outgoing personality. Ability to work well with others. Able to create and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff. Previous experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $31,200.00 - $32,175.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
