Research Associate (Computational Modelling - Lab Of Dr. Rajanikanth Vadigepalli)

The Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at the Thomas Jefferson University offers a research position in computational systems biology of autonomic neuroscience and heart failure. The position will be at the level of a Research Associate or a Postdoctoral Fellow depending on applicant's qualifications and the duration of research experience after receiving a doctoral degree. Research Associate position requires five years of work experience after the completion of PhD. The successful applicant will participate in a multidisciplinary project supported by the National Institutes of Health to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying autonomic circuits driving cardiovascular control in health and disease. The postdoctoral fellow will work in an interdisciplinary team to develop multiscale computational models of molecular, cellular, tissue, and organismal physiological processes governing neural control of cardiac physiology in heart failure and neuromodulatory therapies. The position offers excellent scientific opportunities for cross training in leading edge quantitative and data analytical methods in a highly stimulating and diverse environment. The internationally collaborative research team includes faculty, staff, and students from many disciplinary backgrounds, including pathology, cell and molecular biology, engineering, bioinformatics, and computer science. The position is available immediately. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in computational biology, systems engineering, computational neuroscience, physiology, or a related field, with significant research experience in application of computational modeling tools and methods. Experience in Matlab, R/BioConductor, or related state of the art tools for simulation and analysis of computational models is required. Experience in using artificial intelligence methods for combined physics and deep learning models is a plus, but not required. Candidates with a proven track record of working on computational modeling research projects are preferred. This position requires a significant amount of teamwork and excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. NOTE: Applicants with less than 5 years of experience post PHD may be considered for a postdoc fellow position.
