PLA Behavior Interventionists

PLA Behavior Interventionists work with our scholars, teachers, and parents to reduce the number of classroom exclusions and suspensions by building strong and positive relationships with our scholars and providing scholars with positive coping strategies. Key Deliverables: Respond to classroom disruptions Provide consistent responses to scholars by modeling and teaching calming strategies Practice de-escalation tactics with the goal of reintegrating scholars back into class quickly Proactively provide scholar tools needed to support alternative behaviors Reinforce PLA's PBI system/process Provide behavior supports as determined by IEPs Work in collaboration with Climate and Culture Specialist, teachers, and school leaders to support overall campus culture goals Experience and Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred Computer knowledgeable Experience working with children and ideally behavior issues a plus The Network: PLA is a transformative education nonprofit changing communities across the country by providing a depth of resources not found in the traditional education model. In addition to serving as one of the country's best turnaround school operators and successfully launching charter school start-ups, PLA also provides our school communities with a successful, research-based summer learning program (Summer Advantage), a successful Reading and Math Intervention program (Reading and Math Advantage), and a workforce development program (PLA University) that provides expanded opportunities for our high school graduates, along with the family members of our current staff and students. In 2022, with the support of the Montgomery Education Foundation (MEF) and Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA), Bellingrath Middle School became a premier charter school in Montgomery, Alabama. We work together with parents and the community to improve the educational outcomes of our scholars and neighborhood families.
