RN Interventional Radiology, STEADY NIGHT - Allegheny General Hospital

This position is a 12-hour shift and will support the MRI department on steady nights from 6 PM to 6 AM, Monday through Friday, with alternating weekend coverage. The nurse will work primarily in the MRI department and will support the IR department when needed. As a Radiology RN, you will provide professional nursing care in a perioperative setting, circulating during invasive procedures and providing moderate sedation. You'll collaborate closely with radiologists and technologists in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, specializing in neurointervention (including embolic stroke, arterial occlusion, tumor treatments, vascular access device insertion, biopsies, arterial and venous embolization/thrombectomy, and TIPS). This role requires meticulous attention to detail and sterile technique, similar to an OR setting. Core Clinical Skills: Assessment:
Comprehensive physical and physiological monitoring, interpretation of findings. Medication Management:
Administration (all routes), knowledge of effects/interactions, accurate calculations. Respiratory Support:
Airway management, ventilator management, oxygen therapy. Cardiovascular Support:
ECG interpretation, management of vasoactive drugs, hemodynamic monitoring. Invasive Line Management:
Insertion of peripheral IV and maintenance of central lines and arterial lines. Infection Control:
Strict adherence to protocols. General Overview: This role provides nursing care to the patient undergoing Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology procedures. Collaborates with the patient and physician to provide care. High volume of neurointervention: These are invasive procedures much like the OR sterile, often times with anesthesia. Essential Responsibilities: Conducts pre-procedural assessment. Participates in the care of patients undergoing Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology procedures. Provides proper documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards and requirements. Maintains a safe environment for patients during their Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology procedures. Monitors the surgical environment to ensure that aseptic technique is followed by the surgical team. Qualifications: Minimum 1st preference to employee on current night schedule on unit Minimum one year recent Critical Care or Radiology RN experience Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate CPR
