Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician/Mechanic will work in partnership with Maintenance leadership and Production leadership to perform basic maintenance and repairs on food manufacturing machinery equipment, including conveyors, packaging equipment, production equipment, electrical controls systems and other related plant systems, while adhering to safety rules and focusing on food safety. Employee Type: Full time Location: MO St Louis Job Type: Production Group Schedule: Evening shift (3pm to 11pm) Monday and Tuesday off Work Location: 611 E. Marceau St., St. Louis MO 63111 Benefits: Based on Union Contract Provisions Salary: $34 per hour plus $1.50 shift differential Qualifications/Experience/Education/Skills: Required High School Diploma or GED Prefer working knowledge of the following support equipment: Boilers, pumps and circulating systems; Air compressors and pneumatic systems; Pneumatic conveying and related systems Proficient in the operation of the following shop equipment: Drill press; Hydraulic press; Milling machine; Lathe; Grinders, band saws and other related hand tools. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment. Perform equipment modifications, rebuilds, and general building maintenance. Perform routine maintenance welding and minor fabrication. Ensure that work areas are clean, and that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) are fully complied with. Ensure compliance with all safety programs and maintain hazard free work areas. Responsible for properly maintaining equipment in order to produce safe, quality and legal product. Schedule and perform regular preventive maintenance. Flexibility to work overtime as operations require. Use sound judgment to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, PLC's, ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams, ability to determine root cause, welding, CMMS/PM/PdM Experience in Fallas, Triangle, Rockford, film packaging vertical and horizontal, carton packaging, case packers, palletizers and GMP/Food processing. Proactively monitors line and initiates corrective actions that circumvent downtime Able to identify parts for corrective maintenance activities and assist in quoting process Must possess a solid mechanical aptitude combined with technical training and/or the equivalent in manufacturing experience (preferably in food manufacturing). Computer skills including ability to learn/operate Maximo. Ability to understand and interpret equipment training manuals and drawings. Must demonstrate good math skills and understanding of control circuits. Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills combined with a sense of urgency. All other duties as assigned Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 5 pounds unassisted; periodically lift to 100 lbs. Must be able to climb, kneel, crawl and work at elevation. Distance and color vision acuity is required.
