Executive Assistant

The incumbent of this position functions as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Deputy Commissioner. The Executive Deputy Commissioner supervises multiple Deputy Commissioners and Executive staff who are responsible for agency program areas. The Executive Assistant incumbent of this position performs the following duties: Collaborate with the Executive Deputy Commissioner daily to ensure deadlines are reached. Edit and summarize documents for Deputy Commissioner and other executive staff. Reviews documents submitted by agency staff and highlights areas for review by the Exec Deputy Commissioner or other executive staff. Acts as liaison with executive and management staff at DEC and with other agencies as appropriate. Communicates with Executive Chamber staff on a daily basis. Researches and assembles information required for Exec Deputy Commissioner to make decisions or to reply to correspondence. Draft correspondence for Executive Deputy's signature or other executive staff. Coordinate attendance at meetings and events and arranges travel if necessary. Participate in certain meetings or conference calls to track deliverables and ensure follow up items are tracked and prioritized for response. Issue documents from Exec Deputy or other executive staff. Potentially supervise other support staff. The incumbent of the position will also provide administrative support to other Executive staff and Executive Offices. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience OR an Associate's Degree and four years of relevant experience; OR six years of relevant experience. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
