The Machine Operator in the Progressive and Transfer Department operates and maintains transfer machines composed of multiple stations connected by transfer mechanisms. This role involves transferring, positioning, and securing workpieces, performing machining operations, and ensuring product quality through inspections and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain transfer machines to ensure efficient production. Transfer, position, and secure workpieces for machining operations. Load coils and thread material through dies as required. Inspect stamped workpieces for surface defects and verify conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as fixed gages and checking fixtures. Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and maintain product quality. Perform required preventive maintenance (PM), such as sump cleanings and maintaining cleanliness around the workspace. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency. Perform other customer-driven or product-driven duties as assigned by the supervisor. Demonstrate a willingness to grow and advance to Setup and Run positions within the department.
Essential Skills: Knowledge of mechanical processes. Proficiency in basic math and machining. Experience with gages, micrometers, calipers, and SPC techniques Basic computer skills. Attention to detail. Strong communication skills. Mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude. People skills and teamwork abilities.
