Job DescriptionOur client, a respected not-for-profit teaching hospital serving one of New York City's most diverse residential neighborhoods, is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist to serve as Administrative Director for Physical Medicine & Physical Therapy Rehabilitation. This role blends clinical expertise with operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality therapeutic care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Elevate your leadership career while making a meaningful impact on patients' lives Key Responsibilities Operational Oversight: Ensure timely, effective delivery of all physical medicine and rehabilitation services by managing staff schedules and adjusting coverage in response to patient volume. Team Leadership: Supervise all professional, paraprofessional, and clerical PM&R staff. Conduct performance reviews, manage payroll using ADP Enterprise, and foster professional development. Clinical Excellence: Conduct and oversee physical therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatments. Maintain high standards aligned with APTA ethics and best practices. Quality & Compliance: Develop and implement quality improvement and performance initiatives in collaboration with the PM&R Director. Present outcomes at quarterly management meetings. Documentation: Oversee timely, accurate medical documentation for all therapeutic services, including evaluations, re-evaluations, treatment plans, and outcomes. Patient & Family Engagement: Ensure effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff. Foster a culture of respect, compassion, and accountability. Strategic Communication: Serve as liaison between the department, hospital administration, and other departments to align operations and clinical care delivery. Qualifications Required: Licensed Physical Therapist in New York State Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role Demonstrated leadership and staff management capabilities Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Strong working knowledge of patient documentation standards and regulations Ability to travel locally across hospital sites as needed Commitment to continuous professional growth and attendance at conferences, trainings, and community health events Preferred: Experience in a hospital or academic medical center setting Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems Certification in physical therapy leadership, management, or healthcare administration Proven track record in quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives Salary: The posted range is not a guarantee.
