Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Driving the bus on runs as assigned, ensuring the safety of the student passengers. Train new hires (bus driver/attendants.)

Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Driving the bus on runs as assigned, ensuring the safety of the student passengers. Train new hires (bus driver/attendants.)
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Trains and tests new bus drivers both in the classroom and behind the wheel.
- Performs Third-Party C.D.L. testing.
- Teaches refresher classes to returning drivers.
- Sets an example of a professional driver to co-workers.
- Transports students to and from school and on educational field trips, as assigned.
- Furnishes student passenger's constant leadership in matters of good behavior, manners and language.
- Cooperates with principals, teachers, and other appropriate persons in solution of problems that affect the welfare of children with whom they have joint association.
- Works in cooperation with vehicle maintenance personnel toward seeing that necessary repairs are made or that potential problems are avoided.
- Performs daily pre-trip inspections as required by State regulations.
- Assists in dispatching and other office related jobs as needed.
- Completes the State Department of Public Safety Refresher Course, as required.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate, or equivalent.
- Have or be willing to obtain an Arizona Commercial Driver's License, Class "B" with "P" and "S" Endorsements and an Arizona School Bus Driver's Certificate.
- Knowledge of state and local laws applicable to the operation of vehicles used for transportation of school children.
- Ability to solve problems induced by weather, traffic conditions, or unruly children.
- Have or be willing to obtain current First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Trained in Defensive Driving.
- Familiar with and supportive of the Assertive Discipline Program used in the District's schools.
- Ability to keep simple records.
- Ability to set a good example of confidence in handling the buses and working with students
- Effective interpersonal and communicative skills.
- Currently certified for Behind-The-Wheel Instructor.
- Maintains Certification
