nLSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Orthodontics Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2.
nThese positions are in a Career Progression Group
nAs part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Dental Assistant 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). nJob Duties and Other Information
nDuties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:
nA. Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
nB. Maintain and stock cabinet
nC. Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
nD. Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)
nE. Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
nF. Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
nG. Place rubber dam and directed by dentist or student
nH. Remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorations
nwith hand instruments only as directed by the dentist or student.
nI. Implement and maintain infection control in the work area.
nJ. Check inventory and order supplies when needed.
nK. Implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of
nDentistry and OSHA.
nL. Know dental terminology.
nM. Know correct nomenclature of all dental instruments.
nN. Knowledgeable of computers.
