Job Description
Join our outpatient care team! As a Medical Assistant, you'll work closely with providers to deliver high-quality patient care through rooming patients, taking vitals, administering tests and immunizations, assisting with procedures, and managing follow-up tasks like calls, refills, and result reporting.
New hires receive a comprehensive orientation and 4-6 weeks of hands-on preceptorship. No MA certification? No problem-St. Peter's offers an internal training program that prepares you for certification through classroom and on-the-job instruction.
Responsibilities
Clinic Visits & Patient Intake: Medical Assistants (MAs) collaborate closely with the care team to support both scheduled and walk-in patient visits. Their responsibilities include rooming a high volume of patients each day and conducting the intake process. This involves warmly greeting patients, collecting and verifying clinical data such as vital signs, health history, and medication lists, and ensuring accurate updates to the medical record. MAs also administer appropriate screening tools as part of comprehensive patient care. Additional tasks may include administering immunizations, performing EKGs, and collecting blood and urine samples for Point-of-Care Testing. Furthermore, MAs often assist providers with in-office procedures, ensuring patients are informed and comfortable throughout the process.
Indirect Patient Care: MAs handle a variety of essential tasks behind the scenes to support clinical operations. These include responding promptly to patient calls, managing in-basket messages, processing medication refill requests, and communicating test results to patients in accordance with clinic protocols.
Qualifications
EDUCATION : High school graduate, HiSET or GED equivalent preferred. Requires successful completion of a CMA program within 6 months of hire.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY : Must enroll in the St. Peter's CMA training program and must obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Current and valid BLS certification required.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE : 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
