nThe mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
nWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant t o perform routine sub professional nursing duties in the care and comfort of our Veteran patients.
nMinimum Qualifications
nSix months of experience or training in patient care; OR
nPossession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR
nCompletion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.
nNOTE:
nPositions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

nJob Duties and Other Information
nJob Duties:
nAs a Nursing Assistant, you will m easure temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures, heights/weights and record in patients' medical record.
nIn this role, you will also:

A ssist with documenting admission of new patients on medical records.

Provide care to patients such as ambulating, feeding, bathing, positioning and lifting.

May sterilize equipment and supplies.
n n - n
Distribute clean linen, wash, dry, sort, fold, and store patients clothing.
n n - n
Collect, label and transport laboratory specimens as assigned.
n n - n
Collect and file diagnostic test results.
n n - n
Observe patients' conditions and report any changes to the charge nurse.
n n - n
Transport patients to examinations, clinics, or recreational sites.
n n - n
May be required to provide care to patients with infectious diseases.

Clean rooms and change bed linens.
n n - n
Perform procedures such as enemas and skin care as directed by a professional nurse.
n n - n
Successfully complete training programs such as CPR, First Aid, infection control, infectious disease, and/or programs that maintain hospital standards such as quality control, safety issues, and JCAHO requirements.

Compensation: The Special Entrance Rate for this position is as follows, plus premium pay, and shift differentials (SEE BELOW):
nNursing Assistant 1 is $13.74
nNursing Assistant 2 is $14.70
nPREMIUM PAY (per HOUR physically worked):
n$3.00 work incentive pay uponhire.
nSHIFT DIFFERENTIALS (per HOUR physically worked):
