Minimum Qualifications:
n- n
- Medical terminology n
- Computer data entry skills n
- Phlebotomy experience/certification n
- Previous laboratory experience n
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire n
Core Competencies:

- Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of laboratory practice. n
- Performs waived laboratory testing according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of laboratory science practice. n
- Manages patient orders accurately and efficiently. n
- Performs specimen processing and handling according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of laboratory practice. n
- Applies patient safety standards and patient management methods to laboratory practice. n
Job Responsibilities:
n- n
- Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy collection techniques and patient management, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and (as applies) arterial puncture and therapeutic phlebotomy. n
- Demonstrates proficiency in patient preparation and specimen collection techniques for throat culture, urine, and other requested specimens. n
- Demonstrates proficiency in waived level testing for immunology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology (as applies). n
- Demonstrates proficiency in documenting patient specimen flow in Laboratory Information System (LIS). n
- Processes specimens according to requirements, including preparation of specimens for dispatch to external labs as needed. n
- Maintains a safe work environment and complies with standards for safe practice and standard precautions. n
- Assists with new employee and training. n
- Performs other duties as requested. n
