This opening is for a Mechanical Designer Weld Gun (Desgin and) Cordination for Tooling fixture Body Shop background and experience.

Required Skills:
Responsible to work with the Project Engineer to track and report develop of weldguns.
Ø Understanding and knowing today's fastening technology. Welding both metal and aluminum, laser welding, riveting, screwing, adhesive, sealer applications.
Responsible to drive and understand customer specifications both corporate and plant and applies Comau standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs of weldguns.
Responsible to give updates to Project Engineer regarding engineering changes that occur during the life cycle of the project.
Ø Knowledge of metal stack ups to determine weld pressures and selecting and sizing of weldguns for Body Welding Tools.
Ø Knowledge of basic weld gun design with the ability to select weldguns form a library.
Ø Consults and coordinates with Mechanical Design and Robot Simulation groups to ensure latest design intent and process is achievable.
Ø Advanced knowledge of all types & variations of resistance welding apps; MIG, TIG, Arch and robotic welding.
Analyzing Data or Information -- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
5+ years Mechanical Design and Engineering experience in Powertrain or Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience
• Ability to work independently and within teams
• Ability to travel domestically (5-20%) and internationally as project needs may be require for technical support

- Mechanical Designer For Weld Gun (Desgin and) Cordination. With knowledge of Body in White Fixture tooliong Assembly.
- Approximately 2+ years of experience
- Weld Gun Desgin and Cordination background & experice. Work wth suppliers. Design & delevople weldguns.
- Cad skills (NX) and knowledge of North American Auto Manufacturer standards and specifications for Body in White Tooling Fixtures.
- Strong understanding of Body Assembly, (geometry setting) and Fixture Tools for Framing lines, Bodyside Systems and Sub Assembly for tooling fixture design.
- Coordinate and review with Technical Leaders, Project Engineers, Sr. Mechanical Engineers, and colleagues to maintain consistency within a given project, and or to resolve design or other problems.
- Computers - Knowledge of Windows, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and a good degree of competence with CAD platforms and associated application software.
- Knowledge of Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies of weldguns.
- Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components of weldguns, using computer-assisted equipment.
- Vendor Coordination / Purch components: work in model space and paper space to bring in and ID supplier items.
- e. Importing Weld Guns, End of Arm Tooling, switches, etc
- Would like:
- knowledge of auto assembly strategies (i.e. part flow within an assembly plant / body Shop),
- Understanding of how a GEO and Repot Systems function.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Drive and understand customer specifications both corporate and plant and apply Comau standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.
- Knowlegde of Fixture stack up methodology and how it relates to machining and tool stack up.
- Understanding of customer specifications (corporate and plant), standards, and local and/or national
- Familiar with NAAMS Standards, Customer Standards, Attributes in cad file, using Cad Check options.

- Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of Mechanical Design Sequences / Controls documents to Controls Design along with customer deliverables.
- Ability to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Analyzing Data or Information - Identifying. Understanding information provided by the customer, supplier and or processes of direction given. Possibly breaking it down to get a better, clear understanding.
- Troubleshooting - Determining causes of mechanical errors and deciding what to do about it.
- May be required to travel to other Comau Facilities, and customer site to assist in the installation / start-up and final machine acceptance.
