As the Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability Manager for North America, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) activities across the region consistently comply with local laws, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and Hempel's internal policies.

  • Champion the Region's Q&E Management Systems, ensuring smooth operation and full compliance with external certifications.
  • Drive Value Through Quality, aligning Q&E systems with Hempel's global and regional business goals to support operational excellence.
  • Lead Compliance with Confidence, making sure all HSE activities meet customer expectations, legal regulations, and Hempel's internal standards.
  • Ensure Quality Consistency, aligning regional practices with Hempel's internal quality requirements through the Business Management System.
  • Advance Sustainability Goals, aligning regional efforts with Hempel's global sustainability initiatives to support a greener future.
  • Build a Safer Workplace, by developing, implementing, and promoting a proactive Health & Safety culture across the organization.
  • Audit with Impact, acting as a Lead Auditor to continuously improve QHSE performance throughout the region.
  • Drive Quality Excellence , leading audits and initiatives to elevate quality performance across all regional operations.
  • Ensure HSE Accountability, by conducting thorough internal audits and reinforcing best practices in HSE product compliance.
  • Shape the Future of HSE, identifying and reporting needs for data, tools, and policies-while contributing to the development of innovative HSE solutions.
  • Manage Budgets Strategically, overseeing the annual departmental budget and forecasting for accurate financial planning.
  • Own the Numbers, collecting and analyzing Q&HSE data and KPIs from local sites and reporting in a structured, consistent manner.
  • Raise the Flag, reporting MEGA non-conformities in core business processes to RQSC and Group Q&HSE management, as per procedure.
  • Inspire a Culture of Excellence, actively supporting and promoting the growth of a strong Q&HSE mindset throughout the region.

Qualifications:
  • Onsite Role: Be part of a dynamic team with a daily presence at our corporate office in Conroe, TX, fostering close collaboration and hands-on impact.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Industry Experience: Over 10 years of HSE experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in the chemical industry.
  • Certifications & Standards: Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with ISO standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Leadership & Strategy: Minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership or strategic HSE role.
  • Data-Driven: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills for managing and analyzing HSE data.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable navigating MS Office Suite, Outlook, ERP systems, and Chemmate for efficient reporting and compliance tracking.
