Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join a leading manufacturing facility located in Arden, NC . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial automation systems and a solid understanding of PLCs, robotics, and SCADA platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and maintain industrial automation systems, including Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs , SCADA systems , HMIs , and Fanuc/ABB/Kuka Robotics .
- Develop, test, and implement manufacturing control systems to support production needs.
- Modify and improve manufacturing methods by working with vendors and reviewing equipment specifications.
- Maintain and troubleshoot devices such as servo drives, VFDs, barcode readers , and automation instrumentation.
- Resolve communication issues using Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiNet , and other protocols.
- Support the launch of new products by coordinating and implementing automation changes.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues and drive root cause analysis.
- Mentor and provide technical support to maintenance and automation technicians.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Document controls systems and support the development of standard procedures.
- Participate in IATF/TS16949 quality initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on controls and automation.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley)
- SCADA platforms (Ignition preferred)
- Industrial robotics (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka)
- Programming languages : Ladder Logic, FBD, Structured Text
- CAD and simulation tools
- Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings and apply industry codes/standards.
- Familiarity with control system design, system integration, and process instrumentation.
